Forensic Artist’s Sketch of Unidentified Dead Man Released

Sacramento, CA -- The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is seeking help from the public to identify a man found dead on September 1, 1989.  He had been shot and his body dumped next to Sheldon Road, west of Bradshaw in Sacramento.  Efforts to identify him through traditional forensics over the years did not lead to a positive identification.  Barbara Anderson, a certified forensic artist with an expertise in facial reconstruction, recently completed a sketch from a photograph of the man.  Anderson’s work resulted in the positive identification of another man in 2006. read more

DNA supplied by the family of Elizabeth Jean Nichols was compared to the unidentified body and suggested a strong family link.  The family then compared photographs taken during autopsy to confirm the identity.  Ms. Nichols died in March of 1983 at the hands of another. read more

 

New Sketch - skeletal remains found in March 2008

Sacramento Police Department's forensic artist, Barbara Anderson, has released a new sketch of an unidentified woman found by a fisherman in the 17000 block of Tyler Island Rd in Sacramento County.

The unidentified female was completely skeletonized.

The unidentified female was wearing a blue “Delta Fire Crew” sweatshirt with two crossed fireman’s axes and the number 5 on the left chest area, a “Grateful Dead” jacket and jeans.

Answer:

If it is determined that an autopsy, external examination or toxicology analysis is required to determine or confirm the cause and manner of death pursuant to California Government Code Section 27491, tissue(s)/organ(s)/body fluid(s) may be retained for analysis and/or evidentiary purposes pursuant to California Government Code Section 27491.4. Tissues/organs/body fluids retained at autopsy or as part of any coroner investigative procedure will be disposed of pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 7054.4
